When it comes to deescalating potential confrontations involving students or adults, two security experts emphasized to School Transportation News that bus drivers and monitors must remain continuously aware of their actions as well as what others are doing on and around the vehicle.

That’s the advice of Bret Brooks, a full-time law enforcement professional and senior consultant for Gray Ram Tactical, LLC, and Susan Keith, program developer/global professional instructor with the Crisis Prevention Institute in Milwaukee, Wis.
