Luther Care Services Invites Public to Attend Open House on Sept. 11

DES MOINES — Luther Care Services will mark National Assisted Living Week with an open house from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11.

The event at the Gardens and Lindens at Luther Park, 2910 E. 16th St., will have a ’50s theme with appetizers, desserts, beer, wine and other beverages.

“Luther Care Services is really a neighborhood within the community and we’d really like our neighbors from the east side of Des Moines, as well as the rest of the metro community, to stop by and see us. We especially encourage anyone with an aging parent to visit and join us on a tour,” said Jodi Urich, director of development. “I’m sure a lot of folks are new to the community or have lived here a long time but have never had a chance to see what Luther Care Services is all about. The open house is really a great opportunity to meet some wonderful people who live here and to learn more about Luther Care Services in fun atmosphere.”

National Assisted Living Week, which will begin on Sept. 9, was launched in 1995 by the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) as an opportunity for residents families, staff, volunteers and the surrounding community to come together to give residents a variety of exciting events and activities.

“The ’50s theme is fun for our residents, who will enjoy seeing cars and clothing from that era. And, it’ll bring back a lot of wonderful memories,” Urich said. “We’ll also have events later in the week to reflect NCAL’s theme for this year, which is “Arts for Ages.”
