WOOLSON SELECTED FOR IOWANS WITH DISABILITIES IN ACTION POLITICAL PARTCIPATION CAMPAIGN
July 17, 2003 – Eric Woolson, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Concept Works, was named today to the volunteer board of Iowans with Disabilities in Action, a campaign to empower Iowans with disabilities to assert their rights to participation in the political process.
Woolson was chosen through his work with the Republican Party of Iowa and Easter Seals Iowa.
The campaign, also called ID Action, promotes a range of activities from voter registration to issues advocacy on behalf of Iowans with disabilities.
“It’s an unfortunate fact that Iowans with disabilities are all too often a silent and, therefore, unacknowledged force in politics today,” Woolson said. “The impetus behind ID Action is the recognition that Iowans with disabilities deserve an equal voice in society, our economy and with public policy makers. It is, quite simple, a fundamental right in our country.”
Many industry and political partners have come forward to support ID Action, including the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office, the Iowa Association of Community Providers, National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI), the Statewide Independent Living Council, Easter Seals Iowa, the major political parties and others.
